Combined Data-Input

From Genea-Doc

Jump to: navigation, search

This functionality is available from version 1.4. If you are using an older version of Genea, you can easily update to the current version. (Which version of Genea am I using?)

With Genea you can enter data of related events at once. You'll find this functionality at Data - Enter - Combined where serveral options are offered.

When chosing Birth and Baptism, a birth data dialog is shown, in which you can enter birth data for a person. After saving the data, a baptism dialog is shown, in which the person from the previous window is already selected. After you enter the person's baptism data, a new birth dialog is shown.

This functionality is used to efficiently enter data from a combined source, such as baptism records of parishes, that also contain birth-data.

When looking at the course of life of a person, you'll find events, that have been entered using this input method, separated again. This is to ensure, that each of them can be edited individually.

If you want that related events that were entered using the combined input get a common number assigned automatically, you can configure this behaviour in the settings
